Toyota recalls more cars, this time with master brake cylinder problems. The recall affects Avalon, non-Hybrid Highlander, and Lexus RX, GS, and IS models. In total, the company will repair 750,000 cars in the United States, 599,000 cars in Japan, approximately 140,000 cars in Australia and the rest of Asia, and about 50,000 in Europe.

Toyota spokesman, Paul Nolasco, said that a problem with leaking brake master cylinders requires repairs. Issues with the brake master cylinder are causing weaker braking power. Vehicles in certain countries are having a problem with the fuel pump, but that is not affecting U.S. Toyota models.

No accidents have been reported as a result of the malfunction. Instead, the Toyota recall is an effort by Toyota to take a more proactive approach to the safety of their vehicles. “Every time we announce a recall, that is a step toward increasing quality,” Nolasco, stated.

Those affected by the recall will be notified in the mail in November. Owners can then get repairs on their cars, free of charge.
