Inmedius, Inc. announces the general release and worldwide distribution of S1000DauthorPro XE, its new S1000D browser-based, WYSIWYG editor that considerably lowers the total cost of ownership, while providing full Issue 4.0 support for pre-existing Data Modules. S1000DauthorPro XE significantly changes the work environment for S1000D authors, markedly decreasing the barriers of implementation through its ease of use and elimination of external license costs. The S1000D authoring software has already been implemented and deployed at some of the world’s largest aerospace and defense companies since last fall.
“The inherent architectural design of the Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite provides the flexibility necessary to quickly and easily adapt to Specification requirements,” stated Sean Rushing, Director of S1000D Products and Services. “Inmedius was the first software developer to implement support for Issue 4.0, delivering initial editing and management support for the schemas in April 2009. S1000DauthorPro XE provides Issue 4.0 schema support and stylesheets for the following S1000D Data Module types: Applicability Cross Reference Table (ACT), Business Rules Exchange (BREX), Comment, Container, Crew, Descriptive, Data Module Lists (DML), Fault, Illustrated Parts Data (IPD), Procedural, Product Cross Reference Table (PCT), Publication, Schedule, Technical Conditions Cross Reference Table (CCT), Technical Repository, Wiring Fields, and Wiring Data.
Inmedius offers three powerful and easy to use S1000D authoring solutions, providing a seamless user experience for creating and editing content. The robust collection of technical publication creation software provides authors with sophisticated and intuitive environments to easily conform to Specification authoring requirements: S1000DauthorPro, the original desktop editor; S1000DauthorPro XE the new browser-based, WYSIWYG version; and S1000D Process Editor, the visual authoring tool for Process Data Module management. The authoring software options represent one of seven modules in the Inmedius S1000D Publishing Suite, a fully integrated solution set, supporting the entire S1000D documentation lifecycle. The robust, yet easy to use software modules work together, integrating authoring through publishing. S1000DauthorPro XE can be integrated with Inmedius S1000Dmanager? v3.2 and above.
Inmedius continues to sell and support the original S1000DauthorPro software. Existing customers may swap their current licenses for the new version, and/or purchase additional XE seats, by contacting their Inmedius sales representative. Pricing is the same for either software license, but XE does not require the additional expense and delay of installing other costly, proprietary software on the individual client. This allows new authors, at diverse sites, to quickly come up to speed and work on new S1000D projects without the need to deploy software on remote machines. With XE, all the functionality needed to be a successful S1000D author is included in one comprehensive software package.
