Bad weather continues to plague the PGA Championship at the Whistling Straights golf course in Sheboygan, WI. Fog caused a more than three hour delay on Thursday, and another delay of just under three hours on Friday. Sheboygan lies on the shore of Lake Michigan so weather is subject to lake-effect, including fog. To make matters worse a line of thunderstorms moved through central Wisconsin early this morning and threatens more delays later in the day.
Matt Kucher, who finished the first round in the lead at 5-under-par 67 said he benefited from the delay. “I found the swing again,” Kuchar told reporters. “It was just some extra time to kind of get my body back in sync again.”
Ernie Els finished his first round on Friday with a 4-under 68. Bubba Watson and Francesco Molinari completed the first round also at 4-under 68. Tiger Woods is at 1-under 71.
