More Eggs Recalled As Salmonella Outbreak Spreads

The number of egg brands placed on recall was rapidly expanded Friday as more cases of Salmonella enteriditis were identified. Medical officials released information on Thursday that there have been reports of 2,000 persons affected by the bacterial infection.
California has suffered the most cases with 266, Colorado has had 28, and there have been 7 in Minnesota. Other reports have yet to be confirmed in Arizona, Illinois, Nevada, North Carolina, Texas and Wisconsin. CDC Director Dr. Christopher R. Braden warns that the number of cases will grow, as data comes in from August.
Wednesday Wright County Egg products sold under the brand names Lucerne, Albertson, Mountain Dairy, Ralph’s, Boomsma’s, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Dutch Farms and Kemps issued the first recall. Their eggs went to California, Illinois, Missouri, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Wisconsin and Iowa. On Friday, Hillandale Farms issued its recall for brand names Hillandale Farms, Sunny Farms, Sunny Meadow, Wholesome Farms and West Creek.
