Orioles Ahead In AL East As They Face Yankees

August 3rd marked the beginning of a stunning turnaround for the Baltimore Orioles. That is the day Buck Showalter managed his first O’s game this year and since then the Orioles are the AL East division leaders – by 3 1/2 games and the Yankees are in fourth place.

The Orioles have now won three games in a row, and 13 of their last 18 games. Due to their success with Buck, they now have a record of .500, 29-29 since the All-Star game. That is quite a feat, since they started 3-14 out of the break.

Now they face the Yankees once again in a three-game series in Baltimore. With Andy Pettitte due back in the New York line-up it may be a challenging feat. Pettitte is returning after a nine week layoff due to a groin injury.

It remains to be seen how the Orioles will fare, but if they continue playing as they have, their chances against the Yankees look promising.
