Rick Sanchez’s six year stint with CNN ended Friday with his firing. CNN responded to a radio interview on a SiriusXM radio show during which Sanchez called Comedy Central late-night host Jon Stewart a “bigot” and implied that the media as a whole are controlled by Jews.
Stewart is known for mocking and picking apart Sanchez on “The Daily Show.” Many believe Sanchez to be thin skinned and spouting off because he didn’t like the joking that came from the comedian. Ironically, Sanchez stated before his termination that Stewart is very powerful and can be a pinnacle in making or breaking peoples careers.
Sanchez, a Cuban-American, also stated several times that he’d experienced discrimination throughout his career, including at the hands of “a lot of elite Northeast establishment liberals” who saw him as someone “who belongs in the second tier and not the top tier.”
CNN, said it will telecast “CNN Newsroom” in Sanchez’s 3 to 5 p.m. time slot “for the foreseeable future.”
