UFC 121 Brock Lesnar vs. Cain Velasquez proved to be a spectacular night for the bloodthirsty fans. The title fight between Mexican-American heavyweight Velasquez and defending champion Lesnar was explosive and short lasting only 4min. 12 sec.
Lesnar is the biggest box office attraction in the sport, so his defeat by Velasquez is a major upset. Although the prior WWE star held a significant size advantage heading into the highly anticipated scrap, Velasquez’s refined overall game carried him to victory and Knockout of the Night honors.
UFC president Dana White awarded Cain Velasquez, Daniel Roberts, Diego Sanchez and Paulo Thiago each an additional $70,000 for their special performances. Sanchez appears to have recaptured his mojo after steamrolling Paulo Thiago to take a convincing unanimous decision win. Their thrilling welterweight battle earned them the Fight of the Night award.
